Import subscription usage
Import a CSV file to add multiple usage entries to an active subscription at the same time. Each CSV row creates one usage entry for a usage-based subscription line. Open the subscription.
Before you begin
- The subscription must be active and contain at least one usage line.
- On the subscription’s Items tab, note the ID of each usage line that you want to update. The downloaded template includes the current subscription ID, but its
subscriptionLineIdvalue is an example that you must replace. - Prepare a CSV file no larger than 1 MB.
Import usage from a CSV file
-
Open the subscription.
-
Select More actions, and then select Import usage.
-
Select Download CSV template.
-
Add one row for each usage entry. Keep the following header and column order:
subscription, subscriptionLineId,effectiveDate, valuesubscription: The ID of the open subscription.subscriptionLineId: The ID of an active usage line on the subscription.effectiveDate: The date when the usage occurred, in your current account date format.value: A number greater than zero.
-
In the Import usage panel, select Upload file, and then select the completed CSV file.
-
Select Import usage.
QuickStart confirms how many usage records were imported. The new entries appear on the Usage tab, and the usage line quantity and total amount increase by the imported values.
Important limitations
- The file must contain exactly the four supported columns in the documented order.
- Every row must reference the open subscription and an active usage line on that subscription.
- The effective date must be between the usage line start date and the current date, must not be after the subscription end date, and must be in an open accounting period. Future usage cannot be imported.
- Empty files and values that are zero or less cannot be imported.
Billing impact
For each imported row, QuickStart multiplies the usage value by the subscription line rate. The resulting amount updates Usage and This period in the subscription summary and the expected amount on the Future payments tab. Usage-based subscription lines are billed in arrears.
