Get started with expenses
Use Menu > Banking > Expenses to record business costs paid from payment accounts, schedule recurring expenses, and record refunds received for prior expenses. The area separates individual expenses, recurring templates, expense refunds, and expense categories so that you can create and manage each type of record.
Open Menu, select Banking, and then select Expenses. The Expenses page contains the following cards:
- Expenses lists individual expense charges. You can create an expense, save it as a draft, or submit it.
- Recurring expenses lists templates that create expenses on a daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly schedule.
- Expense refunds lists money returned to a payment account for previously recorded expense categories.
A submitted expense increases the expense accounts associated with its expense categories and decreases the selected payment account. An expense saved as a draft does not post to the general ledger.
A recurring expense template does not post to the general ledger. Each expense generated from the template posts according to whether Create expenses as draft is selected.
A submitted expense refund increases the selected payment account and decreases the expense accounts associated with its expense categories.
