Edit an existing custom field

Edit an existing custom field from field customization on a supported record or transaction. You can change its name and the record types where it is used, but you cannot change the field type or field ID after creation. See Access field customization from a transaction entry or other record entry.

You can also edit existing custom fields from the Customization section Fields page. For more information about the Customization section, see Get started with the Customization section.

Before you begin

You need the Administrator access profile or the Customization: create fields and segments permission set. The field type and field ID cannot be changed after the field is created.

  2. Select the field you want to edit.
