Specialized User: Project Manager

Important:

This section is about the Specialized User: Project Manager standard role in NetSuite, not related to the Project Manager field on project records and employee records. You don't need to use this role for the Project Manager field to be available. For information about marking resources as project managers, see Resource Assignment.

The Specialized User: Project Manager role is a standard role with predefined permissions which grants you access to Project Management features. This role is designed to benefit project managers and other employees who only need access to project-related functionalities.

Use this role to manage projects, resources, time & expense, and other transactions related to projects in NetSuite.

For a detailed list of the default permissions and their access levels, see Specialized User: Project Manager.

To assign this role to an employee, see Assigning Roles to an Employee.

Customizing the Specialized User: Project Manager Role

You can customize this role by creating a custom role based on the Specialized User: Project Manager role. This allows you to limit or modify the standard permissions to fit user needs. For more information, see Customizing and Creating Roles and Setting Permissions.

You can remove permissions but can't add any permissions outside the standard role. Additionally, you can't grant greater access than the standard permissions allow. However, you can reduce access levels as needed. If users need to access permissions that aren't available in this user type, please contact your NetSuite account manager to purchase a general access license.

It's best practice to distinguish custom roles by including "Specialized User: Project Manager" in the name.

Managing the Specialized User: Project Manager Role

Assigning only the standard or a custom Specialized User: Project Manager role to an employee counts toward Specialized User: Project Manager usage. Assigning it along with other general access roles counts toward general access usage instead.

You can assign multiple Specialized User: Project Manager roles based on your company's purchased licenses. Check the number of assignable users on the Billing Information page.

Access this page by going to Setup > Company > NetSuite Account Information > View Billing Information. Click the Billable Components subtab and look for Specialized User: Project Manager in the Component column. The Current Provisioned Qty column shows how many users have been assigned this role.
