Production Control Board

The Production Control Board lets you review key work order information in one place. You can monitor production progress, identify work orders that need attention, and take available actions from one page.

The board includes WIP and non-WIP work orders. Use the Work Orders tab to review work orders and component shortages. Use the Insights tab to review production trends.

Production Control Board Permissions

The following permissions are required to perform operations from the Actions menu in the work order (WO) grid and to close or release work orders in bulk:

Opening the Production Control Board

1. Go to Transactions > Manufacturing > Production Control Board.

2. If you use NetSuite OneWorld, select a Subsidiary.

3. Select a Location.

4. Click Customize to select which charts appear on the Insights page.

5. To view a work order summary, search for or select a work order in the View Work Order Summary dropdown list. The Work Order Summary window displays the work order's status, risk indicators, production progress, quantities, and planned and actual production dates. Click the assembly name to open the related assembly record.

   For work orders that use Manufacturing Routing, the Operation table shows each operation's work center, status, and completion progress. Click an operation name to open the corresponding operation task record.

   Click Close to close the summary window and return to the Production Control Board.

Reviewing Production Insights

Use the Insights tab to review production volume, production cost, and scrap trends. The trend charts support daily, weekly, and monthly views.

The following portlets are available:

Portlet	Description
WIP Balance	Total open work in process balance, with debit and credit amounts. This chart appears only when the Manufacturing WIP feature is enabled.
Components with Shortage	List of components with shortages across released work orders, with one row for each component. Expand a component row to view all work orders affected by that component shortage. The following details are available: Item Short Quantity - The total component shortage across released work orders. For each component line, the shortage is calculated by subtracting the quantity committed to that work order and the quantity already used in builds from the required component quantity. Only results greater than zero are included in the total. Number of Affected Work Orders - The number of released work orders affected by the component shortage. Each affected work order is counted once for that component. The list is sorted by Supply Required By Date, earliest first. If Supply Allocation is not enabled, the list is sorted by the related work order's Production Start Date, earliest first.
Scrap Trend	Scrap value over time, using the amounts on scrap lines from work-order completions. This chart appears when the Manufacturing WIP feature is enabled.
Top Produced Assemblies Trend- Volume	Production-volume trends for up to five of the most-produced assemblies. Note: When the MRP feature is enabled, the portlet includes only items whose replenishment method is MPS.
Production Cost Trend	Production cost over time, using assembly-build credit lines excluding variance lines, and credit lines from component issues and work-order completions.
Top Produced Assemblies Trend- Cost	Production-cost trends for up to five top-produced assemblies, based on cost. Note: When the MRP feature is enabled, the portlet includes only items whose replenishment method is MPS.

Reviewing Work Orders

On the Work Orders tab, you can review work orders by category, such as active, at risk, in process, ready, recently completed work orders, and work orders to release.

Subtab	Description
Active	Work orders with a Planned, Released, or In Process status, including those without production risks. Ordered by Production Start Date, earliest first.
At Risk	Only active work orders that meet the Late Start, Late Completion, or Component Shortage criteria. Ordered by Production Start Date, earliest first.
Ready	Work orders with a Released status whose buildable quantity equals the total work order quantity. Ordered by Production Start Date, earliest first.
In Process	Work orders with an In Process status. Ordered by Production Start Date, earliest first.
Recently Completed	Work orders with a Built or Closed status. Ordered by Actual Production End Date, latest first.
Work Orders to Release	Work orders with a Planned status. You can select multiple work orders to release them in bulk. Ordered by Production Start Date, earliest first. Note: You can select a maximum of 200 work orders for a single bulk release.
Work Orders to Close	WIP work orders with a Built status, or an In Process status when the built quantity is greater than or equal to the work order quantity. You can select multiple work orders to close them in bulk. Ordered by Production Start Date, earliest first. Note: You can select a maximum of 200 work orders for a single bulk close.

The following work order details are available:

WO#	The work-order number.
Status	The current work order status, such as Planned, Released, In Process, Built, or Closed.
Risk	Applicable risk indicators, such as Late Start, Late Completion, or Short.
Assembly Item	The assembly item being produced.
Production Start Date	The scheduled production start date.
Production End Date	The scheduled production end date.
Demand	A link to the originating sales order or work order. This column is populated when the work order was generated from one of those transactions. It is blank when the work order has no originating sales order or work order.
Required by Date	The date associated with the originating demand. If Supply Allocation is enabled, it displays the Supply Required By Date from the corresponding assembly line on the sales order or from the work order's header. When not enabled, it displays the Expected Ship Date from the corresponding sales order line or the Production Start Date from the parent work order.
Built / Total Quantity	The quantity built compared with the total work order quantity.
Actions	Actions available for the work order, including Preview, Release, Close, and applicable manufacturing transactions.

For WIP work orders that use Manufacturing Routing, expand the work order row to review its operations. The expanded list shows the operation name, work center, status, completed quantity and total quantity, and start and end dates and times. Click an operation name to open its manufacturing operation task.

The Actions column provides the actions available for each work order. Manufacturing transaction actions follow the actions available on the work-order record:
