Analytical Impact Record for SaaS Metrics Reporting

After an item is set up to track SaaS metrics, source records that contain the item can generate Analytical Impact records.

A nightly job leverages the bulk processing framework to create Analytical Impact records. The bulk processing framework processes large amounts of data quickly and scales as your data grows. Records include many possible source lines such as subscriptions, sales orders with billing schedules, contract renewal-related transactions, standalone sales orders, invoices, and cash sales. You can also generate downsell events for return authorizations, credit memos, and cash refunds linked to a transaction.

Finding Analytical Impact Records

To create a unified SaaS metrics solution across NetSuite, SaaS Metrics Reporting pulls data from multiple sources and turns those amounts into consistent recurring values. You can also use CSV import to bring in records not created in NetSuite. SaaS Metrics Reporting matches similar transactions by date and item to track renewals in all source records.

To find your Analytical Impact records, go to Lists > SaaS Metrics > Analytical Impacts.

Adjusting the Analytical Impact Record

You can customize the standard Analytical Impact form by adding custom fields to the Analytical Impact record. You can reclassify the automatically assigned impact and also split the amounts to fit your unique use cases. The system generates events from the source transaction line details and assigns the monthly impact, impact category, and impact subcategory. Any changes you make to the source that affect line amounts, dates, or linked records are accounted for.

SaaS Metrics Reporting uses the most common impact types. To ensure the metrics reflect exactly how you define impact and amounts, change the automatically assigned impact category and subcategories by adjusting the columns. You can also split one event into two categories by:

  • editing the record

  • entering a partial amount in the Adjust Monthly Impact field

  • choosing an Adjust Impact Category and Subcategory

When you enter a partial amount, the system automatically fills in the remaining columns with the adjusted values. This action creates two events on the SaaS Metric record, both shown on the dashboard. You also can ignore automatically generated records or delete CSV-imported records if you don't want them to show up in reports. This approach gives you the option to customize the way your recurring transactions are reported.
