The NetSuite AI Connector Service securely integrates with supported AI clients and allows them to use tools that interact with your NetSuite data. For more information and connection instructions, see NetSuite AI Connector Service.

NetSuite also provides a set of tools through the MCP Standard Tools SuiteApp to get insights from your NetSuite data and perform a wide range of tasks in NetSuite using natural language input. For more information and installation instructions, see MCP Standard Tools SuiteApp. The prompt samples available in the NetSuite AI Connector Service Companion SuiteApp gives you a set of practical prompt samples that you can reuse and adapt to match your company's processes and business needs.

How the NetSuite AI Connector Service Companion SuiteApp Works

The prompt samples in the NetSuite AI Connector Service Companion SuiteApp are specialized large language model (LLM) prompts written for AI clients that are connected to the MCP Standard Tools SuiteApp. These prompts perform tasks in NetSuite using the tools provided in the SuiteApp. The prompts work best when you treat them like clear, structured work requests. They define a workflow for the LLM instance to use the set of available tools to return outputs that hallucinate less, and are structured and more direct.

Whether you are writing your own prompt or adapting a prompt sample, a typical workflow in the NetSuite AI Connector Service Companion SuiteApp looks like this:

  1. Install the NetSuite AI Connector Service Companion SuiteApp

Install the SuiteApp from the SuiteApp Marketplace. For installation instructions, see Installing the NetSuite AI Connector Service Companion SuiteApp.

  2. (Optional) Upload the NetSuite skill file

Download the SKILL.md file (which defines the netsuite-ai-connector-instructions skill) from the NetSuite SuiteCloud SDK GitHub repository, and then upload it to your supported AI client session. This file adds shared context and repeatable guidance to help the AI client interpret and run prompt samples more predictably.

  3. Choose a prompt sample that matches your goal

After installing the SuiteApp and connecting to the MCP Standard Tools SuiteApp, access the available prompt samples in NetSuite by going to Setup > AI Companion Tools > AI Companion Library. For more information about the available prompt samples, see Available Prompt Samples in the NetSuite AI Connector Service Companion SuiteApp.

  4. Use the prompt actions to copy, open, or customize the prompt sample

After selecting a prompt sample, you can copy the prompt text, open the prompt in a supported AI client, or open the AI prompt custom record to customize it for your use case. If you want to review the full prompt details, you can expand the prompt sample and then choose an action.

  5. Fill in the placeholder values and run the prompt

After the prompt text is in your AI client's connected session, replace any placeholder values (for example, dates or subsidiary names) with accurate values for your use case, then run the prompt.

  6. Review the output and iterate

Using your prompt and the MCP Standard Tools SuiteApp, the AI client translates the commands into the appropriate NetSuite tool calls and operations. The results are returned directly to your AI client. You can view the outcome in your conversation interface and iterate on your prompt as necessary.

  7. (Optional) Save your customized version for reuse

If you customize a prompt when working with your AI client, you can save those changes in NetSuite for future use. On the Companion SuiteApp Suitelet page, click Customize on your customized prompt sample, paste your updated prompt text under Prompt, and click Save.
