Current Limitations for Summary Search Custom Fields
This topic describes the current limitations for summary search custom fields. For general information about creating custom fields from summary search results, see Creating Custom Fields with Values Derived from Summary Search Results.
-
Summary search custom field values are dynamically calculated each time a user views a form that contains the field. NetSuite doesn't store the calculated value on the record. Depending on the field's display options, a user may be able to edit the displayed value. NetSuite doesn't store edited values. Because NetSuite doesn't store summary search custom field values, you can't use those values in search results. This limitation includes lists based on saved searches.
-
If you have a use case for running a saved search on a formula field where the value isn't stored, there's an alternative solution available.
For more information, see Running a Saved Search on a Formula Field Where the Value is Not Stored (SuiteAnswers ID: 1017388).

A summary search custom field calculated value can vary by user. NetSuite calculates the rollup using only records that the current user can access. Users with different permissions can access different records and see different field values.
