Netherlands Account Setup

Setting up an account for an organization doing business in the Netherlands requires enabling several features and installing some additional SuiteApps.

Enabling Features for Netherlands Account

Some features available in your NetSuite account can be useful for businesses in Netherlands. Enable Company, Accounting, and SuiteCloud features to make your NetSuite account more suited to the business requirements in the Netherlands. For information about features and prerequisites for specific product areas, see Functional Areas.

Note:

If you do not have sufficient permissions to enable features, please contact your account administrator.

To enable features:

  1. Go to Setup > Company > Setup Tasks > Enable Features (Administrator).

  2. On the Company subtab, under International, check the Multiā€“language and Multiple Currencies boxes.

  3. On the Accounting subtab, under Basic Features, check the GL Audit Numbering box.

  4. (Optional) On the Accounting subtab, under Advanced Features, check the Period End Journal Entries and Foreign Currency Variance Mapping boxes.

  5. On the SuiteCloud subtab, enable the features under the following sections:

    • SuiteBuilder

    • SuiteScript

    • SuiteGL

  6. If your company is registered for EU One Stop Shop, check the OSS Applies box and select the EU member state from the OSS Nexus dropdown field.

  7. Click Save.

Available SuiteApps

Some additional features will only become active if you install a specific SuiteApp to your NetSuite account. SuiteApps are applications that extend NetSuite capabilities for specific industry and business needs. If you would like to get access to some specific product area, go to the Functional Areas help topic and check which SuiteApps are required to be installed.

Netherlands-specific features are currently available in the following SuiteApps:

Electronic Bank Payments

Payments

Enables bank payments of vendor bills, employee expenses, partner and employee commissions, customer refunds, and customer payments within Netherlands.

International Tax Reports

Taxation (NetSuite Accounts Without SuiteTax)

Generates the Netherlands VAT reports in English or Dutch, sales and purchase reports by tax code, EU sales list reports, and Intrastat reports.

If the SuiteTax feature is enabled in your NetSuite account, do not install the International Tax Reports SuiteApp.

Supplementary Tax Calculation

Taxation (NetSuite Accounts Without SuiteTax)

Manages EU Reverse charges and supports the calculation of nondeductible input tax. For more information, see Recording Nondeductible Input Tax and Setting Up Tax Codes to Post Notional Tax Amounts. This SuiteApp also supports VAT on prompt payment discounts. For more information, see Recording Tax on Prompt Payment Discount.

If your account has the SuiteTax feature enabled, do not install this SuiteApp.

SuiteTax Engine

Taxation (NetSuite Accounts With SuiteTax)

For NetSuite accounts with the SuiteTax feature enabled, the SuiteTax Engine sets default tax codes based on local tax requirements.

SuiteTax Data Records

Taxation (NetSuite Accounts With SuiteTax)

For NetSuite accounts with the SuiteTax feature enabled, the SuiteTax Data Records SuiteApp provides tax rates for the United States and for countries that use VAT/GST. This SuiteApp is used with the SuiteTax Engine SuiteApp. For more information, see Installing the SuiteTax Data Records Bundle.

Tax Reporting Framework

The Tax Reporting Framework SuiteApp, when installed with the Netherlands Localization SuiteApp, enables you to generate tax reports required in the Netherlands, including VAT, Instrastat, EC Sales List, and the XML Auditfile Financieel (XAF).

EMEA Localization

Payments

Taxation (NetSuite Accounts With or Without SuiteTax)

Provides custom lists and custom fields that will be used to generate tax reports. and electronic bank payments for countries in the EMEA region. The EMEA Localization SuiteApp is a prerequisite of the Netherlands Localization SuiteApp.

Note:

You can use the EMEA Localization SuiteApp without the SuiteTax feature enabled in your NetSuite account. But, without the SuiteTax feature, you cannot use the tax-related features in this SuiteApp.

Payments

Taxation (NetSuite Accounts With or Without SuiteTax)

Provides the following features:

  • SuiteTax reports: Periodic VAT Return OB69, Intrastat, and EC Sales List.

  • XAF

  • Work-related costs (Werkkostenregeling) reporting

  • Electronic bank payment templates in the following formats: Equens - ClieOp, Equens - ClieOp (ING Bank), and SEPA Credit Transfer (Netherlands).

Note:

The Netherlands Localization SuiteApp can also be used with the International Tax Reports SuiteApp if the SuiteTax feature is not enabled in your NetSuite account. Without the SuiteTax feature, you cannot use the VAT, Intrastat and EC Sales List reports provided by this SuiteApp.

GL Matching

Accounting

Enables account reconciliation for balance sheet accounts. Account types supported by the GL Matching SuiteApp are not limited to Accounts Payables and Accounts Receivables account types.

To install a SuiteApp:

  1. Go to Customization > SuiteBundler > Search & Install Bundles.

  2. Search for the SuiteApps that you would like to install using their names or Bundle IDs.

  3. On the Bundle Details page, click Install.
