Effective Date Changes on the Rates-Based Salary Type in Job Offers
Prior to this release, the values of fields in the Salary and Other Compensation sections considered the offer creation date and not the proposed start date. Any changes to these values after the offer creation date were not used for salary calculation when the job offer was edited. As a result, customers ran into scenarios where for example, the processing of a background check was delayed, and a new hire's start date had to be changed. When an offer was redrafted and a new start date was entered, the salary should have been calculated based on the rates effective as of that proposed start date. However, this was not supported and the calculation was based on the offer creation date.
With this release, here's how the effective date works. Let's say the latest effective start date on Values Defined by Criteria is 01/12/2025 and the last effective dated row in the Values Defined by Criteria is 01/14/2024. If an offer is created on 10/23/2024 with a Proposed Start Date of 01/18/2025, the Salary section on the job offer will use the new values from Values Defined by Criteria because the proposed start date is after 01/12/2025 and the pay would be calculated correctly.
This enhancement will ensure that the accurate values are calculated when the calculations should be using the proposed start date rather than the creation date, without having to make any manual changes to the salary values in the pending worker record. Also, Recruiting users don't need to generate an additional offer addendum to communicate the modified salary to the candidate.
Steps to Enable
You need to set the ORA_CMP_USE_PROJECTED_START_DATE profile option to Yes at the Site level. For details, see How do I enable a profile option?
Tips And Considerations
- You can see the effect on both Redwood and responsive pages.
- It will affect the value by criteria and grade rate based rate definitions.
- After the profile option is enabled, the calculations will start considering the proposed start date. Existing salaries are revised only when you edit the job offer, or when the app tries to create salary again.
