View Skill Suggestions for Learning Items Using Generative AI

You can now view enhanced skill suggestions powered by generative AI through a new profile option ORA_HRT_SKILL_SUGGESTIONS. The skill suggestions are available to you when you perform these tasks: 

  • Selecting skills from skill river suggestions while creating or editing a learning item
  • Receiving skills suggestions from the Learning Skills Enrichment Agent

Skill suggestions are made based on attributes such as the name and description of a learning item. For the Learning Skills Enrichment Agent, these attributes are considered for the learning items selected in the filtered list. The skills suggested by the Learning Skills Enrichment Agent fulfill the criteria you specify for the confidence score thresholds for a manual review and automatic approval, as well as the number of top skills to suggest.

Before this upgrade, skill suggestions were provided based on predictive AI. You can now choose between predictive or generative AI by setting the ORA_HRT_SKILL_SUGGESTIONS profile option to one of these values: 

  • Legacy – Uses predictive AI.
  • Next Generation – Uses generative AI. 
  • Next Generation with Workflow Agents – Uses AI Agents based on Agent Studio, which enable you to customize the AI prompts based on your needs. 

Skill suggestions based on generative AI are more relevant and contextual to the learning item title compared to predictive AI.

Business benefit: This feature leverages generative AI to create improved skill recommendations for learning items and gives you the flexibility to opt into it.

Steps to Enable and Configure

Set the ORA_HRT_SKILL_SUGGESTIONS profile option to one of these values:

  • Legacy
  • Next Generation
  • Next Generation with Workflow Agents

The default value is Legacy. Note that all these values can be set only at the site level. For details, see How do I enable a profile option?

If you plan to select Next Generation as the profile option value, you need to first run the Create Summaries Using Generative AI scheduled process. For details, see How do I enable enhanced skill suggestions using generative AI?

If you plan to select Next Generation with Workflow Agents as the profile option value, you need to first perform additional configuration tasks using AI Agent Studio. For details, see How do I enable enhanced skill suggestions using AI Agents?

The prerequisites for using AI Agent Studio are:

  • Your environment must have the appropriate services for Oracle Applications Platform deployed. For more information, see FAQ2521 on My Oracle Cloud Support.
  • Set the Enable Security Console External Application Integration (ORA_ASE_SAS_INTEGRATION_ENABLED) profile option to Yes and enable permission groups for the appropriate roles. See Access Requirements for AI Agent Studio.

Tips And Considerations

Skill suggestions are displayed in the language of your current session, if the learning item title and description are in that language.
