Use Published Schedules to Determine UK Statutory Sick Pay Qualifying Days

When a sickness absence is recorded during a Workforce Management published schedule period, UK SSP processing uses the published schedule in effect before the absence to determine scheduled qualifying days. The employee's underlying work pattern remains the applicable schedule outside that published period.

The published schedule relationship is enabled for UK SSP processing, helping the statutory calculation reflect the employee's agreed scheduled work. This update adopts the existing Core Absence and Workforce Management published-schedule capability; it doesn't introduce a new scheduling experience.

Align UK SSP processing with schedules agreed or published before sickness absence. This supports more consistent statutory payment outcomes and reduces reliance on the underlying work pattern when a published schedule applies.

Steps to enable and configure

  1. Review each UK sickness absence type that uses those schedules, if you use Workforce Management published schedules for UK SSP.
  2. Set Schedule Hierarchy Starting Point to Published Schedule, for each relevant absence type.
  3. Review the readiness guidance and set Override Daily Duration as appropriate, for absence types used with Workforce Management Scheduling.

Tips and considerations

  • This update applies to UK SSP processing.
  • The published schedule that was in effect before the absence, is used for the relevant published schedule period.
  • Customers that don't use Workforce Management published schedules have no behavior change from this uptake.
