User Access Controls for Generative AI Features

This release introduces the first set of user access controls for Generative AI in Eloqua, based on customer feedback requesting more selective enablement. Admins can now manage GenAI access through a new action permission“Use Generative AI features”—available under a new permission category called “Advanced Intelligence.”

This permission is designed to serve as a centralized control point for access to all GenAI features in Eloqua, supporting common enterprise scenarios such as limiting GenAI use to specific roles (e.g., content specialists) or piloting GenAI with a smaller group before broader rollout.

Business Benefits:

  • Stronger governance and risk management: Enables admins to restrict GenAI capabilities to specific Eloqua users.
  • Supports phased adoption: Makes it easier to run controlled pilots, training waves, or role-based enablement.
  • Simplifies administration: A single permission can control access across GenAI features rather than managing disparate settings.

Steps to enable and configure

You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.

Tips and considerations

  • Where to configure: Locate the new action permission under Advanced Intelligence and apply it via your security groups.
  • Plan ahead: Although the permission is introduced in 26B, enforcement will occur in a later release (to be announced in advance). Use this window to review and align your security group strategy.
  • Recommended approach:
    • Decide which roles should have GenAI access (e.g., marketing ops, content team, select power users).
    • Update group membership and permission settings now to avoid disruption when enforcement begins.
    • Document internal guidance for appropriate use (e.g., approved content types, review requirements).

Default initial state (26B)

  • Enabled by default for these security groups:
    • Customer Administrator
    • Advanced Users – Marketing
    • Basic Users – Marketing
    • Active Users – Sales
  • Disabled by default for all other security groups
  • Admins can change the setting for any group based on access control needs.
