Catalog and Category Data Security

You can control access to the catalog data using data security entered in the Product Information Management catalogs. The Redwood user interface uses this security to control access to catalogs and categories within the catalog. This interface doesn’t support the management of data security.

This feature benefits your business by providing the ability to model alternate classifications of items using catalogs for analytics and business processes across the enterprise.

Steps to Enable and Configure

Follow these steps to enable or disable this feature:

  1. In the Setup and Maintenance work area, search for and select the Manage Administrator Profile Values task.
  2. On the Manage Administrator Profile Values page, search for and select the ORA_EGP_CATALOGS_REDWOOD_PAGES_ENABLED profile option code.
  3. In the Profile Values section, set the Site level to Y or N. The default value is N.
  • Y = enables the feature
  • N = disables the feature
  1. Click Save and Close. Changes in the profile value will affect users the next time they sign in.

Tips And Considerations

  • You can assign catalogs to one or more functional areas if the catalog adheres to the functional area rules.
  • When creating catalog for functional area, select the functional area in the Create Catalog drawer. Any changes to the catalog are validated based on the functional area rules when the catalog is saved.
  • A category name and category code are used to define a category for a catalog. You can reuse the category name in other catalogs and at various levels in the category hierarchy of the same catalog.
  • Sharing a category or category hierarchy by reference allows you to reuse category content in multiple catalogs. The category content in the source catalog is always the master and the shared content in other catalogs is read only.
