Restrict User Access to Assigned Organizations for Maintenance Forecasts

Restrict access on the Redwood Maintenance Forecast page so users can review and edit only forecasts belonging to the maintenance organizations they’re authorized to access. Previously, users could view and perform actions on forecasts across all organizations. With this update, forecast visibility and actions such as editing forecasts, creating and cancelling maintenance work orders are limited to a user’s assigned organization.

If a user has access to more than one organization, they can select an organization using the organization context switcher to view its associated maintenance forecasts. The page refreshes based on the selected organization.

Note: Forecast access is determined by work order organization, not the forecast organization.

When you navigate to the Maintenance Forecast page from the Maintenance landing page, the organization context defaults to the current organization, and you will see forecasts for that maintenance organization. If you access the page via Quick Action or Ask Oracle, the organization defaults to the one specified in the ORA_RCS_DEFAULT_MNT_ORG profile, provided you have access to it. If not, the first organization you have access to (alphabetically) will be selected. If you don't have access to any organizations, the organization chooser shows no organization. You must be granted access to a valid work order organization to view the forecast.

This feature limits visibility and restricts actions such as forecast updates, maintenance request creation, and forecast cancellation to authorized organizations, improving data security and operational control.

Steps to enable and configure

  1. Navigate to the Additional Parameters tab available on the Manage Asset Maintenance Parameters page of the Setup and Maintenance work area.
  2. Update the field for Enable Security for Maintenance Forecasts.
  3. Change default value from None to by Work Order Location.
  4. Save your changes.

Tips and considerations

The forecast access is based on the work order organization and not by forecast organization.
