Redwood: Confidence Rating for Suppliers Suggested by Oracle AI

Category managers can now view the confidence rating of the suppliers suggested through AI Assist. This confidence is based on a similarity score that measures how closely the line items, descriptions, and purchasing categories on the negotiation lines match a supplier’s historical transactions. The overall supplier rating is derived from the highest line level rating achieved across the negotiation lines for that suggested supplier.

The similarity score ranges from 1 to 100 and is categorized as follows by default:

  • High: 80 and above

  • Medium: 60–79

  • Low: 40–59

Category managers can sort supplier suggestions by confidence rating to select higher-confidence suppliers, or add all suggested suppliers to a negotiation. The similarity threshold is also configurable, allowing you to adjust it based on your business needs.

Confidence rating for suggested suppliers can help category managers identify high quality matches, streamline supplier selection, and improve sourcing outcomes.

Steps to enable and configure

Use the Opt In UI to enable this feature. For instructions, refer to the Optional Uptake of New Features section of this document.

Offering: Procurement

To use this feature, you must opt in to Update 25D feature, Redwood: Add Suppliers Suggested by Oracle AI, if you haven't already. For detailed instructions, refer to the Steps to Enable section in the What's New for this feature. 

To adjust the default similarity thresholds, update these profile options using values from 1 to 100.

  • High AI Confidence Supplier Suggestions Threshold (ORA_PON_SUPPLIER_AI_HIGH_THRESHOLD)
  • Medium AI Confidence Supplier Suggestions Threshold (ORA_PON_SUPPLIER_AI_MEDIUM_THRESHOLD)
  • Low AI Confidence Supplier Suggestions Threshold (ORA_PON_SUPPLIER_AI_LOW_THRESHOLD)

Tips and considerations

  • If a supplier is suggested with High Confidence Rating for any negotiation line, the supplier is considered as a High Confidence match overall. And similarly, If there are no high confidence line suggestions, but the supplier is suggested with Medium Confidence Rating for one or more lines, then the supplier is considered as a Medium Confidence match overall.
  • if your objective is to cast a wide net and invite suppliers who may have some potential to supply these good and services, you can consider adding medium and low confidence suppliers as well. Conversely, if you are looking for suppliers who have provided those items in the past, then use high confidence suppliers.

  • Create Supplier Negotiation (PON_CREATE_SUPPLIER_NEGOTIATION_PRIV)
  • Edit Supplier Negotiation (PON_EDIT_SUPPLIER_NEGOTIATION_PRIV)
