Power Unit

This page is accessed via Fleet Management > Power Unit Management > Power Unit.

This page enables you to define and edit power units. In Oracle Transportation Management, a power unit is defined as the cab/tractor; the unit containing the engine.

Adding a Power Unit

  1. Enter a unique Power Unit ID to identify the unit. You can also have the system generate an ID using the Business Number Generator. If you leave this field blank, Oracle Transportation Management automatically assigns a default ID.
  2. Enter a Description for the unit.
  3. Enter the Power Unit Number.
  4. Select the Active check box if this unit is active.
  5. In the Date of Build field, enter the date that the power unit was built.
  6. In the Home Country ID field, enter the country code where the power unit is registered.
  7. The Corporation ID for the owner of the power unit.
  8. In the Park Location ID field, enter the appointed parking location for the unit.
  9. Enter the Power Unit Type ID.
  10. Enter the Tare Weight of the power unit.
  11. The Pulling Length is the pulling length of the power unit. This is used in calculation of loaded equipment dimensions for external distance engines. It is also part of the configuration for sending equipment dimensions to external distance engines.

Equipment

Associate equipment with a power unit based on the availability dates for the equipment. When you assign a driver, the associated power unit and the equipment associated with the power unit will be assigned. Only one equipment can be effective at a time. An equipment can only be associated with one power unit. Any equipment associated for one power unit will not be available on a different power unit with the same date range. When you establish a relationship between a power unit and a piece of equipment, it may be referred to as a "kit". For a given driver, you can associate an equipment or/and power unit with the driver for a period of time as "straight truck". This use of "kit" and "straight truck" here are simply OTM concepts. For example, if you have a driver who is assigned to the same “straight truck” every day, then in OTM you would assign the power unit and equipment to the driver to model that concept.

  1. Enter an Equipment ID.
  2. Enter an Effective Date.
  3. Enter an Expiration Date.
  4. Click Save for each equipment you define.

Reference Numbers

  1. Enter a Reference Number Qualifier.
  2. Enter the Reference Number.
  3. Click Save for each reference number you add.
  4. Click Finished.
