Resource Schedule

This page is accessed via Fleet Management > Resource Management > Resource Schedule.

A resource schedule is used to show the typical availability of resources, such as a group of drivers, using a calendar. Use this page as a template to create a typical schedule for resources that start and end the day at the same locations.

For example, if you have five drivers that work out of the same start and end locations, and all start at the same time during the same days, you could create a resource schedule to represent their work availability. The Resource Count field would have the number of drivers; the calendar would define the days and time they work; the duration would list the length of their shift. Use the Generate Resource Schedule Instance action to create resource schedule instances.

Adding a Resource Schedule:

  1. Enter a unique Resource Schedule ID.
  2. Select a Domain Name.
  3. Enter a Name for the resource schedule.
  4. Enter a Description.
  5. Enter a Resource Type. This is the kind of resource you want to schedule, such as a driver.
  6. Enter a Driver Type ID. This field can be used to provide default values for rate offerings and calendars. If no driver type is specified, the calendar entered below on the resource schedule is used. It is important to have at least either the driver type or the calendar field completed on a resource schedule. Otherwise, if no calendar is specified, then resource schedule instances may not be generated. Similarly, if no rate offering is defined on a resource schedule and no driver type is defined, resource schedule instances generated from the resource schedule will not be constrained by a rate offering.
  7. Enter a Start Location and an End Location. These will represent the first and last stops of a set of shipments in a work assignment.
  8. Enter a Start Location Profile and an End Location Profile. These are used to view, edit, and finder screens.

Note: If you add Start Location Profile and End Location Profile and generate Resource Schedule Instance (RSI), then both of them will get reflected on RSI as well.

  9. Enter a Resource Count. This represents the number of resources, such as drivers, that have this schedule.
  10. Enter a Calendar to specify the times that the resources start on different days of the week. The times should be entered as driver work activity times. If a calendar is not specified, the calendar on the driver type is used. If both a driver type and a calendar are entered, then the calendar on the resource schedule is used. It is important to have at least either the driver type or the calendar field completed on a resource schedule. Otherwise, if no calendar is specified, then resource schedule instances may not be generated.
  11. Enter an Effective Date and Expiration Date. If you do not specify a date range, the time period for resource schedule instance generation is taken from shipments that are sent to the work assignment logic. The earliest and latest start times for all shipments for the end period are used. If a date range is established on the resource schedule, the system takes the most constrained time period as defined by both the resource schedule and the shipments. For example, the date range on the resource schedule is August 1-August 31st. If the shipment dates are August 10-September 10th, the resource schedule instances are generated for August 10-31st, since that is the tighter time constraint. The days chosen in the time range depend on the days specified in the calendar.
  12. Enter a Duration by specifying days (D), hours (H), and minutes (M). This is the time spent on their shift.
  13. Enter a Rate Offering. The rate offering is used when creating work assignments. It is used to find the time and cost information associated with the resources. If a rate offering is not defined, then resource schedule instances will take the rate offering from the driver type. If no driver type is specified in that scenario, then the resource schedule instance will not be constrained by a rate offering.
  14. Enter an Equipment Group Profile ID to only consider shipments with an equipment group belonging to the equipment group profile.
  15. Click Finished.
