Printer

This page is accessed via Business Process Automation > Power Data > Document Generation> Printers.

Use this page to define an Internet Printing Protocol (IPP) printer. An IPP printer is a printer using IPP protocol and running on an IPP server. The IPP server distributes to printers anywhere on the internet that are configured to use that server.

Oracle Transportation Management relies on an external Oracle Analytics Publisher server or server farm to forward IPP requests to a Windows IPP or CUPS printer. Printing requests are made using a Oracle Analytics Publisher web service, including content and formatting instructions. The connection and security details are handled by Oracle Analytics Publisher. Before adding a printer in Oracle Transportation Management, you should first add the printer to Oracle Analytics Publisher, making note of the printer name. Test the printer within Oracle Analytics Publisher by sending a sample page. See Oracle Business Intelligence Publisher documentation for more information. You should review the IPP Printing chapter of Report Designer's Guide or the Administration Guide to find the for specific security requirements to successfully access an external IPP printer from the Oracle Analytics Publisher server running in the cloud.

Once a printer is successfully tested in Oracle Analytics Publisher, ensure that the Oracle Analytics Publisher server information is reflected in an Oracle Transportation Management Report System. Typically, customers use a single Report System named DEFAULT. This reflects the Oracle Analytics Publisher server installed as part of a default cloud environment.
