Creating Database Connections

This topic describes the procedure to create a new database connection in Oracle® Database Navigator.

  1. From the Main menu of Oracle® Database Navigator toolbar, select DB Navigator > Database Browser option to open the DB Browser window.

    Note:

    If the DB Browser icon displays on the side bar of your IDE platform, click the icon to directly open the DB Browser window pane.
  2. Click the New Connection icon on the DB Browser window and select the type of database connection you want to create.

    The DB Navigator - Settings > Connections > Database tab opens to create a new DB connection.

    Alternatively, from the Main menu of Oracle® Database Navigator toolbar, select DB Navigator > Settings > Connections tab to open the wizard for creating a new database connection.

  3. Enter the connection details in the Database tab and click Test Connection to verify that the connection to the database is successful.
  4. Click OK to create the new connection.
    The new database connection is displayed in the DB Browser pane with its data structure.
