Access and connected clients

In addition to Smart View, REST API, MDX, and MaxL, the Essbase MCP Server provides another way for an AI client to interact with Essbase.

MCP access profiles control which tools are exposed to the client, but they do not replace Essbase user permissions or data filters.

When reviewing access, consider these areas separately:

  • What the user is allowed to do in the Essbase application.
  • What data the user is allowed to access.
  • What capabilities a connected client is allowed to use.

See Manage Access to Applications and Data.
