Align the data with the cube model

Think about the grain of the source data: what does one source record represent?

For example, one sales record might represent:

Product × Market × Day × Measure

The Essbase cube may provide higher-level views such as product families, regions, quarters, and years, but those higher-level values can be derived through the dimensional model.

You do not need to reshape relational data so that every reporting level is represented separately in the source.
