Review a Cellular Network Interface

You can review the settings for a cellular network interface on an Oracle Enterprise Communications Platform (Oracle ECP) Cloud Connector Network tab. You can edit some values, while others are read-only.

Tab Overview

When you select a cellular interface on the network tab, Oracle ECP displays the following graphs below the interface chooser. The first graph shows data usage that the Cloud Connector reports. The second graph shows data and SMS usage that the mobile network operator (MNO) reports.

• Cellular interface bandwidth rate - This graph displays transmitted and received bandwidth over time, in both bits per second (Throughput) and packets per second (Packets). The default display is the last 30 minutes, which can be changed with the period drop-down located above the graph.
  • Latency is also available on this graph by selecting Latency from the drop-down menu, which shows locally-reported latency for this WAN interface.
• Bandwidth Distribution Chart - This chart displays the bandwidth allocation for the cellular network interface by User Apps, Control Channel, and Devices.
• Bandwidth Performance Test Graph - If a bandwidth performance test ran during the selected period, this graph displays the download and upload rates over time. The x-axis shows time, and the y-axis shows speed.
• Monthly Usage History - The chart displays monthly cellular data usage. The x-axis shows the month, and the y-axis shows usage. Each bar represents usage for one calendar month. Hovering over a bar displays the usage details for the corresponding month.
  • For a Cloud Connector with two SIMs, the tool tip includes the month and year, aggregated monthly limit, usage for SIM 1 and SIM 2, and aggregated usage for both SIMs.
  • For a Cloud Connector with one SIM, the tool tip includes the month and year, aggregated monthly limit, SIM 1 usage, and aggregated usage. In this case, the SIM 1 usage and aggregated usage are the same.

  The chart also displays over usage for any month in which the usage exceeds the aggregated monthly limit.

  When users click See Usage History option above this graph, Oracle ECP opens a drawer that displays daily and monthly usage graphs. The daily usage graph lets users select Data or SMS to view the corresponding cellular usage for the current calendar month and up to two previous calendar months. The monthly usage graph displays up to 12 months of usage history and lets users select Aggregated, SIM1, or SIM2 to view the combined usage or the usage for an individual SIM.

  Note:

  The amount of monthly usage history displayed depends on the configured data-retention policy. For example, if the retention policy is set to 90 days, the graph displays only the data retained for those 90 days, even though it supports up to 12 months of history. See Storage Management for more information on retention policies.

Context

From the Network tab on the Edge Node Details page, choose the option that let you check or update network settings for a cellular network interface on a Cloud Connector.

1. Go to the Inventory page and click Edge Nodes.
2. On the Edge Nodes page, use the Name column to locate the Cloud Connector you want to edit and click the name.
   Oracle ECP displays the Edge Node Details page.
3. On the Edge Nodes Details page, select the Network tab.
4. On the Network tab, select the drop-down list next to the interface stability status at the top of the page, and click cellular.
5. To review the cellular interface settings, click Network Settings.
   The Cellular Network Settings drawer opens.
6. In the Cellular Network Settings drawer, you can only edit Enable, Preferred SIM, and APN options. The other information in the drawer is read-only.

   Enable Cellular Connectivity	Click the toggle to enable or disable the cellular network interface. When you disable cellular connectivity, all fields become read-only.
   Preferred SIM	Select which SIM card you want to take priority during onboarding.
   Network Preference	The name of the network cell0 is using.
   Firmware Version	The version of the installed firmware on this edge node.
   Signal Strength	A value displayed in decibels relative to one milliwatt (dBm) indicates the strength of the connection between the cellular network interface and a nearby cellular tower.
   Subnet Mask	The bitmask for the IP address.
   Gateway	The IP address of the host on the network that will send local network traffic to other networks.
   Hardware Model	The name the manufacturer assigned to identify the model for the network interface controller (NIC).
   Bearer MNO	The MNO name returned by the MNO.
   IP Address	The IP address that identifies the Cloud Connector on the network.
   DNS	The IP address of the Domain Name System (DNS) server.

   SIM1 information includes:

   SIM1 ICCID	The Integrated Circuit Card Identification (ICCID) number that identifies the SIM card in slot #1.
   SIM1 IMEI	The International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) that identifies the Cloud Connector as the equipment using the SIM card in slot #1.
   IMSI	The International Mobile Subscriber Identifier (IMSI) digit string that uniquely identifies the mobile network subscriber.
   APN	Displays the Access Point Name (APN) for the SIM Card used in the enabled cellular interface. When the cellular interface is enabled and the Mobile Network Operator for the SIM card supports other approved APNs, you can click the drop-down to choose one.

   SIM2 information includes:

   SIM2 ICCID	The Integrated Circuit Card Identification (ICCID) number that identifies the SIM card in slot #2.
   SIM2 IMEI	The International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) that identifies the Cloud Connector as the equipment using the SIM card in slot #2.
   IMSI	The International Mobile Subscriber Identifier (IMSI) digit string that uniquely identifies the mobile network subscriber.
   APN	Displays the Access Point Name (APN) for the SIM Card used in the enabled cellular interface. When the cellular interface is enabled and the Mobile Network Operator for the SIM card supports other approved APNs, you can click the drop-down to choose one.

7. Do one of the following:
   • Click Save to update the settings.
   • Click Cancel to return to the Network tab.
