About Work Activities

Work activities are work tasks that need to be completed and originate from a work order or a work order template. As examples, activities may be created for maintenance and inspection of assets, to create service history, and to install or exchange devices.

Work Activities can be created at the same time as the work order when the Create Work Order button on the approved work request is selected. Refer to About Work Orders for more information.

Work activities can also be moved between work orders as long as the activity is in a Planning status and the work order the activity is being moved to is in either a Planning, Approved, or Active status. As a result of the move, the status of the new work order will revert to a "Planned" status and current workflow processing occurs.

The Work Activity portal enables planners to manage such details as resource requirements, permits, materials, labor, and much more that control key aspects of how the work activity is managed.

Many settings are shared between the activity classes because they share the same activity type BO however, a setting unique to work activities and construction work activities is the “Construction Related” flag which defines whether the activity is to be a regular activity or a construction work activity.

See the various sub-topics in this section for concepts related to the management of work activities.
