Cancel Historical, Estimated Bill Segments When a Real Read Is Found

A special plug-in spot exists on bill segment type that can be used to automatically cancel historical, estimated bill segments when a “real” read is used on the current bill. This plug-in spot is invoked only when an excessive read (the prior read is more than the current read) situation is detected.

If you wish that the spot be invoked all the time and not only when an excessive read situation is encountered, you must setup the Always Call Auto Cancel option type of the Financial Transaction Options Feature Configuration. You will normally do this if you want the type of readings to be the basis of the auto cancellation. For example, you want to cancel estimated bills and rebill distributing usage more accurately across a tiered rate.

These algorithm would typically be specified on bill segment types that calculate bills using meter reads.

Note:

This plug-in spot is typically used on bill segment types that calculate bills using meter reads. It is typically not used when usage is requested from Oracle Utilities Meter Data Management.

This algorithm is called by the system when creating bills in batch. It does not get called when a user creates a bill online.
