Understanding Digital Asset Service Task Types

Digital asset service task types define properties common to specific types of digital asset service tasks used to manage enrollment, unenrollment, and other processes. Each process has an associated service task, which is based on a specific service task type.

Digital asset service task types are defined by the following:

  • Service Task Business Object: The business object used to create service tasks of this type.

  • Other details specific to the service task type. See the sections below for more details.

System Data

Digital asset service task types are based on the system data:

Digital Asset Enrollment Request Task Type (X1-DigitalAssetEnrollTaskType)

Digital Asset Unenrollment Request Task Type (X1-DigitalAssetUnenrollTaskTyp)

Program Service Call Task Type (X1-ProgramServiceCallTaskType)

Enrollment Service Task Type

Digital Asset Enrollment service task types include the following

  • Programs: The programs that will use this service task type.

  • Exception Handling: Exception handling details, including To Do Type, To Do Role, Enrollment Expiration Days, and Cancel Reason.

  • Enrollment Setup Defaults: The Program Subscription Type and Device Location Type for the Program Subscriptions and Device Locations to be created by the enrollment process.

  • Device Setup: The actions to perform during the enrollment device setup stage, including the following for each:

    • Sequence: The sequence for the device setup actions collection. Actions are evaluated in sequence order based on each unique combination of Installation Method and Asset Ownership. The setup actions whose combination of Installation Method and Asset Ownership matches that specified in the service task are used in the enrollment process.

    • Installation Method: The installation method for the controllable devices associated with the enrollment process. Options include:

      • Bring Your Own: The customer supplies their own device.

      • Ship Device: The utility will ship the device to the customer.

      • Utility Installation: The utility will install the device at the customer's device location.

    • Asset Ownership: Who owns the assets associated with the enrollment process, based on the Installation Method. Options include:

      • Customer Owned: The customer owns the asset/device.

      • Utility Owned: The utility owns the asset/device.

    • Device Setup Actions: The actions to be performed for installing or confirming the controllable device status at the device location, including the following for each:

      • Sequence: The sequence for the actions collection. Actions are processed in order based on sequence.

      • Setup Action: The specific action to be performed for devices with this combination of Installation Method and Asset Ownership. Options include:

        • Create Activity: Used to create Service Order Management field activities to perform device installation or inspection.

        • Create To Do: Used to create a To Do Entry.

        • Create Work Order: Used to create Work and Asset Management work orders (see Work Management ) to perform device installation or inspection.

        • Initiate Controllable Device Command: Used to create and send commands to the controllable device to test if it's capable of communicating with the control system.

        • No Action Needed: Indicates that no device setup action is needed for devices with this combination of Installation Method and Asset Ownership.

      • Setup Action Details: Details for the action, based on the selected Setup Action.

        • Create Activity: The Activity Type and Field Task Type for field activities. Supported Field Task Types for enrollment field activities include "Install Controllable Device" and "Investigate Controllable Device".

        • Create To Do: The To Do Type and To Do Role for the To Do Entry to be created.

        • Create Work Order: The Template Work Order Identifier for the template work order. Template work orders can create up to two activities. This is used when a customer is enrolling in a related program, in which case an activity template can be configred for each program. Note that template work orders can have a maximum of two activity templates.

        • Initiate Controllable Device Command: The Command Activity Type for commands. Supported commands include "Controllable Device Status Check"

Configuring Template Work Orders

When configuring template work orders, you should configure a separate template work order for each program, as well as for each unique pair of programs. Each template work order should include work activity templates appropriate for each program (or pair of programs). For example, if your implementation includes 3 programs (A, B, and C), and program C is considered a related program for programs A and B, you might configure the following template work orders:
  • Program A (with a work activity template appropriate for program A)

  • Program B (with a work activity template appropriate for program B)

  • Program C (with a work activity template appropriate for program C)

  • Programs A-C (with work activity templates appropriate for programs A and B)

  • Programs B-C (with work activity templates appropriate for programs B and C)

Refer to Template Work Orders for more information about configuring template work orders.

Unenrollment Service Task Type

Digital Asset Unenrollment service task types include the following

  • Programs: The programs that will use this service task type.

  • Exception Handling: Exception handling details, including To Do Type, To Do Role, Unenrollment Expiration Days, and Cancel Reason.

  • Device Setup: The actions to perform during the unenrollment device setup stage, including the following for each:

    • Sequence: The sequence for the device setup actions collection. Actions are evaluated in sequence order based on each unique combination of Installation Method and Asset Ownership. The setup actions whose combination of Removal Method and Asset Ownership matches that specified in the service task are used in the unenrollment process.

    • Removal Method: . The removal method for the controllable devices associated with the unenrollment process. Options include:

      • Keep: The customer or utility keeps the device.

      • Ship Device: The customer will ship the device to the utility.

      • Utility Removal: The utility will remove the device from the customer's device location.
