Which System Owns Asset Related Details?

GIS is the system of record for location related details and as such these are designed to be synchronized into the system continuously, reflecting changes made to these details over time.

By default, asset related details are synchronized once from the GIS system when the asset is created and maintained internally by the product thereafter. Depending on business requirements, each asset related detail may be explicitly configured with either of the following synchronization options:
  • Continuously synchronized from the GIS system. This is indicated on theGIS to WAM Sync Mapping extendable lookup record for the feature class.

  • Continuously synchronized back to the GIS system when data changes in the system over time. This is indicated in the WAM to GIS Sync Mapping extendable lookup record for the asset type. Changes made to such asset details are detected using standard audit rules on the asset entity and a synchronization request is created to send an update message to the GIS system.

Note: The same asset detail cannot be continuously synchronized both ways.
