Creating a Communication Message Configuration
Introduction
Communication Message enables you to configure messages that can be passed through the Communication Distribution Message for distribution to your customers through a messaging supplier service. You can create different types of messages such as, Alert, Marketing, Notification, One Time Password and Reminder. Communication Message assembles your Communication Address, Body, Method Type, and Metadata to generate the required message to be distributed.
- Communication Address- This defines the phone numbers where the messages will be delivered. If the configuration has multiple phone numbers, only one transaction request can be processed and delivered to only one mobile number.
- Body- This defines the message body. You can associate User Defined Data Field to create a dynamic message body, or Package configuration which contains Document to generate the message. You can also create a static message body.
- Method Type- This defines the type of the message (such as general message, OTP and so on).
- Metadata- This defines the additional metadata which is required to distribute the message.
Prerequisites
Following are the prerequisites to consider before creating a Communication Message configuration in Communication Cloud Service:
Note:

Creating a Communication Message and Associating Marketing Company
To create a Communication Message, follow these steps:
- Access the Oracle Financial Services Cloud application.
- From Menu, select Communication.
- Under Communication, select Distribution and then select Communication Message.
- On the Communication Message landing page, select Create.
- In Basic Information section, enter the Name, Long Name and Description (optional), to identify the Communication Message.
- In Brand section, select Add Marketing Company and then select the Marketing Company that you want to associate to the Communication Message.
Note:
You can associate only one Marketing Company per Communication Message configuration. - In User Defined Data Structure section, select Add User Defined Data Structure, and then select the User Defined Data Structure that you want to associate to the Communication Message configuration. This User Defined Data Structure defines the configuration and determines the corresponding output.
- Select Message Type to determine which kind of message you want to create.
- In Status section, Active Date is set to the current date when the Communication Message is created. You can modify it to a future date, if required.
- Select Continue to create a Communication Message Version.
Creating a Version
Versions allow the creation of multiple iterations of a Communication Message. The Active Date helps to control when each version of the Communication Message becomes effective. While the Communication Message can have multiple versions, one version must be created for a Communication Message configuration to be saved.
To create the Communication Message Version, follow these steps:
- In Basic Information section, enter the Name and Description (optional), to identify the Communication Message Version.
- In Status section, Active Date is set to the current date when the Communication Message Version is created. You can modify it to a future date.
- Select Save to save the information and continue with association, or Continue to save and continue with the Method Type.
Associating the Communication Address
After saving Communication Message Version details, you need to associate Address. The Address defines details like mobile number, sender details and few other service specific data required for messaging service to distribute the message to correct recipient.
- In Update Communication Message Version page, under Associations, select Add next to Address.
- Select the Address that you want to associate. This redirects you to the Add Contextual Attribute(s) to Address page. On this page follow these steps.
- Select
to modify the Communication Address.
- (Optional) Select Add Rule under Rule column, and select the Rule that you want to associate to the Address. The Rule defines the business logic to the Communication Address.
- (Optional) Select Add User Defined Data Field under User Defined Data Field column and select the User Defined Data Field that you want to associate to the Address. This User Defined Data Field applies the iteration required for the inclusion of multiple recipient’s.
- Select
to save the changes or
to discard the changes. Select Continue to continue.
Note:
You can associate multiple Addresses to the Communication Message Version.
- Select
- Select Save to save the information and continue with association, or Save & Exit to save and return to the landing page.
Creating a Method Type
In Method Type, you can set the type of the message. It adds a tag to the message that defines the type of the message. Navigate to the Method Type from the left pane to configure.
To create a method type, follow these steps:
- On Update Communication Message Method Type page, select Subject Source
Subject Source Value User Defined Data Select Add User Defined Data Field and select the User Defined Data Field that you want to associate to the Method Type. Static Enter static value directly under Static Value field. - In Basic Information section, enter Name, Long Name, and Description (Optional).
- In Status section, Active Date is set to the current date when the Communication Message Version Method Type is created. You can modify it to a future date or can be left blank to set the date later.
- Select Save to save the details or select Continue to save the details and continue creating the Body.
Creating a Body
- User Defined Data Field- Associate the User Defined Data Field configuration to make the message body dynamic.
- Static- Directly write the message body. This creates a static message body for all recipients.
- Package- Associate the Package configuration to define the message body.
To create body, follow these steps:
- On Update Communication Message Body page, select Data Source and then follow these steps:
Data Source Value User Defined Data Select Add User Defined Data Field and then select the User Defined Data Field that you want to associate to the body. Static Enter the message body directly under Static Value field Package Select Add Package and then select the Package configuration that you want to associate to the body. - In Basic Information section, enter Name, Long Name, and Description (Optional).
- In Status section, Active Date is set to the current date when the Communication Message Version Body is created. You can modify it to a future date or can be left blank to set the date later.
- Select Save to save the details or select Continue to save the details and proceed to create Metadata.
Creating a Metadata
In Metadata, you can define the additional metadata required to distribute the message to the right recipient.
To create a metadata, follow these steps:
- On Update Communication Message Metadata page, under Metadata Properties follow these steps:
- Select Metadata Type.
- Select Subject Source as follows:
Subject Source Value User Defined Data Select Add User Defined Data Field and then select the User Defined Data Field that you want to associate. Static Enter Static value directly in Static Value field.
