Migrating the reporting environment to a new machine

You can migrate the reporting environment for any supported InForm 6.2.x.x or 6.3.x.x study to a new machine. You must install a new Cognos Analytics 11 Reporting environment, and create, export, and then import your export packages.

In-place upgrades are not supported for InForm 7.0.

Note: Depending on the InForm version you are migrating from, some steps may not be required.

  1. Install and configure the Cognos environment.
    1. Install and customize the Cognos software.
    2. Identify or create the required users for any InForm study.
  2. Create an export package and export the data from your Cognos environment.
    1. Review About the export package.
    2. Create an export package for each study in the Cognos environment.
    3. Copy the export package to the new Cognos server.
  3. Run the PFCognosConfig utility.
  4. Run PFRInit to set up the reporting environment.
  5. Import the export package.
  6. Modify the PFRSetupTrial.xml file.
  7. Run PFRInit to set up reporting for the studies.
  8. Delete obsolete reports.
  9. Restart the InForm Model Updater service.
  10. Revalidate custom reports.
  11. Update schedules and jobs.
  12. Delete the study organizational units from the LDAP configuration.
  13. Configure the study URL for CRF links.
  14. Update the Cognos server bootstrap file.
  15. Update the Cognos Consumers group properties.
  16. Clear the Client browser cache.
