Block and Catering Event Statuses

Status codes are used in Blocks and Catering Events (when the Catering Events OPERA Control is active) to determine the impact of a block allocation on room inventory and Events on event space availability. Both Blocks and Events progress through a series of statuses and as such a status flow must be configured once status code configuration is complete. See Configuring Status Code Flow. Block Status and Block Status Flow is a global configuration. A maximum of 20 status codes can be configured.

When the Use Single Block Status for Rooms and Catering OPERA Control is active, the status of block and associated events is controlled by the block status. When the Use Single Block Status for Rooms and Catering OPERA Control is inactive, a Catering Status field is enabled in the Block Catering Details panel to select a different status for events. The Default New Block Status OPERA Control determines the default status for new blocks. The Copy Booking Status OPERA Control determines the default Room Status when copying a block, The Default Catering Status OPERA Control determines the default status for catering events. The Catering Status when Copying an Event OPERA Control determines the status Catering Status when copying an event.

Each status code configured has a status type. The available Status Types are:
  • INQUIRY (Doesn't deduct allocated rooms and function space from inventory)

  • NON DED INV (Doesn't deduct allocated rooms and function space from inventory)

  • DED INV (deduct allocated rooms and function space from inventory)

  • CANCEL (releases allocated rooms and function space to house availability)

  • For Sales and Event Management subscribers, the Turn Booking into Action Upon OPERA Control determine when blocks are automatically updated to Actual status.
    • ARRIVAL (Bookings auto-update to ACTUAL on the booking arrival date).

    • DEPARTURE (bookings auto-update to ACTUAL on the booking departure date).

    • NOT USED (Bookings do not auto-update to ACTUAL).

Additionally, status codes identify when a block is open for pickup, allowing the entry of reservations and deducting a room from the current block allocation. See About Rooming Lists.

When the Owner and Block Owner Locking OPERA Controls are active, you can select a status for the Block Owner Locking Status Setting OPERA Control that locks the block and prevents update of the Block Owner field.

When the Catering Events and Event Waitlist OPERA Controls are active, an additional Waitlist Status Type is available to manage events on waitlist. When creating the waitlist status code, both the Room Status Type and Catering Status Type value must be set to Waitlist. There can be only one Waitlist status code configured, and this status code is not referenced in the Block Status Flow.

Central badge When the Central Sales OPERA Control is active, central sales leads are sent to properties as an inquiry/non-deduct block. The Property Lead New Block Status OPERA Control must be updated with a block status configured as Inquiry or Non-Deduct Room Status Type to identify leads/opportunities, for example, a LEAD status to track new business leads. See About Central Sales. A block status with the Return Inventory check box selected must also be configured to track lost leads, for example, a LOST status to track lost leads / opportunities.

Premium badge When the Opportunities OPERA Control is active, an OPP block status (as Inquiry Status Type) is seeded to identify leads/opportunities. The Convert Opportunity to Block Status OPERA Control determines the default status of confirmed (won) Opportunities. The Release Opportunity Status OPERA Control determines the status code for released (lost) Opportunities and must be updated with a block status configured with Return Inventory check box selected, for example, a LOST status to track lost leads/opportunities.

Note:

Ensure the OPP block status code is updated with a default Reservation Type and Display Color.
