Unlock an account

If an account was explicitly locked by a delegated administrator, unlock it before the user can sign in again. Users who lock their accounts after too many incorrect password attempts can use Trouble Signing In to reset their passwords.

Before unlocking an account, check the reason for which it was locked and verify that the person asking to have the account unlocked is the owner. To help ensure system security, establish a process to confirm the requester's identity.
  1. Navigate to the User Details page.
    1. In the upper-right corner, select Manage.

      Note:

Customers who have not yet migrated to the updated Oracle Identity Self Service console and continue to use OIM may not see the Manage button. Use the equivalent administration page in your current console.
    2. Select the Users tile.
    3. For the Display Name:
      • From the list, select Equals.
      • Enter the user name in the field.
    4. Select Search.
    5. In the Search Results section, select the link in the User Login column to open the User Details page.
  2. In the row of controls at the top of the page, select Unlock Account.
  3. In the Unlock Account confirmation dialog box, select Unlock.
  4. Reset the password. See Reset a user's password for details.
