Configure Recovery

Recovery is the reversal of backup. Create a new policy with the source and target reversed but do not activate it. When a DR situation occurs follow these steps:
  • Declare a DR action.
  • Disable your backup policy.
  • Activate/switch (boot, enable network access, change load balancers, whatever is necessary to bring the DR site online) to the systems in the DR site.
  • Operate from the DR site
  • When physical recovery of the primary site is complete, activate the recovery policy to replicate the DR systems back to the primary site.
  • When replication is complete, switch over to the primary site
  • Disable the recovery policy and re-enable the standard backup/DR policy.

Caution:

The details can become quite complex. Oracle recommeds that you regularly schedule failover disaster drills to continuously test the processes, systems, and staff preparedness.
