4.17.1 Introduction

The Observation Event RMIM represents qualitative and quantitative Observations made on a patient, specimen, or device. It includes all of the attributes and relationships for the observation in event mood, including the order that this event fulfills in. This includes the following set of Observation types:

Lab results
Vital signs
Intake and output
Type and cross match
Blood gases
Device evaluations
Observations associated with an adverse event or product complaint
Consultation reports, along with their associated text annotations and comments.

Normally these are symptoms authored by a clinician during the treatment of a patient. It excludes textual reports and lab results.
