Before you begin
Policies are monitors that observe specific diagnostic state and can be configured to send one or more actions based on configured rules. A policy specifies relationships among multiple diagnostic states, such as the values of MBean attributes, log record fields, or instrumentation events. When the conditions of a policy are met, the associated action or actions are sent.
Policies and actions are configured and used in the scope of a diagnostic system module targeted to one or more server instances. Therefore, to use policies and actions, you must first create a diagnostic system module. Then, you can configure policies and actions in that module and target the module to one or more server instances.
Note: As of WebLogic Server 12.2.1, the terms watch and notification are replaced by policy and action, respectively. However, the definition of these terms has not changed.
