Mike uses Oracle9i JDeveloper with an integrated Business Components for Java (BC4J) framework to assemble business logic that can be accessed and used by a variety of clients, applications, and services. Using integrated Unified Modeling Language (UML) modelers, Mike draws UML diagrams of business logic, from which it is easy to generate BC4J applications that are interactive with the models. This means if he changes something in a model, the underlying application code also changes. Using JDeveloper, Mike creates a BC4J component that will alert the inventory manager when the inventory of an item falls below a certain level in both myCompany’s warehouses and the warehouses of its supply partners, allowing the manager to search for other supply sources when necessary. Mike develops a JSP application for Customer Orders that invokes the BC4J alert component and another component that sends a XML message to a business partner's Shipping application, which Mike also develops in JDeveloper using Swing controls. Using Oracle9iAS, Mike deploys the applications and components to the application server. |
