Installing Siebel Server for PIMSI Engine

This topic describes how to install Siebel Enterprise Server software on the computer that will host the PIMSI Engine server component.

This task is a step in Process of Installing SSSE in a Microsoft Exchange 2000 Environment, Process of Installing SSSE in a Microsoft Exchange 2003 Environment, and Process of Installing SSSE in a Microsoft Exchange 2007 Environment.

CAUTION:  Do not install Microsoft Outlook on a computer that will run the Siebel Exchange Connector application because Microsoft Outlook overwrites a critical Microsoft Exchange library with a less functional version.

The installation of Siebel Enterprise Server software for PIMSI Engine must have the following characteristics:

  • Install and configure the Siebel Server software component on a supported Windows platform. For more information, see System Requirements and Supported Platforms on Oracle Technology Network.
  • Install and configure the Siebel Server software components as follows:
    • Select the Custom installation option and make sure that PIM Server Integration is selected to be installed.
    • Select the Object Manager Component.
    • Choose a language that is supported for SSSE.

For more information, see System Requirements and Supported Platforms on Oracle Technology Network.

    • The Siebel Server service must be run using Domain User privileges, not Local System privileges.
    • Note the Windows User Account Name that you specify.

You will need to use the same User Account Name when you configure the DCOM security settings for the connector application.

    • After the installation of files is complete, continue following prompts to configure the Siebel Server software component.

For more detailed information about how to perform this task, see Siebel Installation Guide for the operating system you are using.
