Installing the SWSE
This topic describes provides instructions for installing the SWSE on your Web server machine. The installation program sets up the Siebel directory structures, copies required files and components to the target disk, and configures the host environment. To prevent installation problems related to permissions, the user who installs the SWSE should be the same user or have the same permissions as the user who installed the Web server instance. NOTE: The following procedure is for installing the base product. For patch installation instructions, refer to the Maintenance Release Guide provided with the patch. See also About Installing Siebel Releases.
To install the SWSE under Windows
- Log on as the OS administrator.
- (Optional) Uninstall your existing SWSE. For more information, see SWSE Installation Requirements.
- In Windows Explorer, navigate to the Siebel image location for the current software version. Then navigate to the directory where the installer is located.
In this case, navigate to Siebel_Image\Windows\Server\Siebel_Web_Server_Extension.
where:
- Siebel_Image = The directory for your version-specific Siebel network image, such as D:\Siebel_Install_Image\7.8.2.0.
- Double-click setup.exe.
The screen Welcome to the InstallShield Wizard for Siebel Web Server appears. (Siebel Web Server is another term for Siebel Web Server Extension.)
- Click Next.
If you have installed other Siebel components of the same version on the same machine, the installer displays the message that an existing installation has been found. Otherwise, go to Step 7.
- Depending on whether you are installing your SWSE for the first time or adding a new language to an existing instance, take the appropriate action:
- Confirm the default installation directory or specify a different one, and click Next.
The default SWSE installation directory is C:\sea78\SWEApp.
CAUTION: Do not specify the Web server installation directory as the directory in which to install SWSE.
- Select the Language Pack or packs you are installing for the SWSE and click Next.
Servers are installed, at a minimum, with a primary (base) language, which is the primary language in which the Siebel Enterprise will run. Optionally, servers may have one or more additional languages installed on them. You should install all the Language Packs that you want on your Web server before you configure the SWSE.
The installer validates installation requirements.
NOTE: If you did not install the Microsoft IIS software on this machine, a prompt appears, informing you that you must have it installed to continue. Click Cancel or Next and the installer will quit. Install the IIS software, and then restart the SWSE installation.
- On the Program Folder screen, click Next to accept the default program shortcut or modify the program folder name to a desired name and then click Next.
The installer displays the location into which it will install the SWSE. It also displays the disk space required for the software you are installing.
The installer proceeds to install the specified files.
A message appears, stating that language files are being installed.
After all SWSE files are installed, the Siebel Software Configuration Wizard for Siebel Web Server Extension launches (SWSE Configuration Wizard).
- Select one of the following options to continue:
- Continue with configuring SWSE. For detailed instructions, see Configuring the SWSE.
- Close out of the SWSE Configuration Wizard and configure later. If you choose to close out of the wizard and configure later, the installer displays the message:
The InstallShield Wizard has successfully installed Siebel Web Server. Choose Finish to exit the Wizard.
- Click Finish.
