Setting Up Price Lists

An administrator can create price lists to set prices for event order line items. Each price list can specify more than one kind of pricing, for example list price, promotional price, and so on.

Using Siebel Hospitality, price lists can be set up for a variety of uses, for example by property (such as a hotel price list), by account, by product type (for example audiovisual), and time of year (Spring Break price list).

Orders are typically associated with the property's default price list; however, each order can be associated with a different price list if desired.

Administrators can define numerous price lists using the Price List view. For simple products, the administrator can define a unit price. For complex products, the administrator defines the unit price and allocated prices. Products can be marked as nondiscounted, meaning that no discounts can be applied to the product.

This task is a step in Process of Setting Up Pricing and Property Pricing.

To create a price list

  1. From the application-level menu, choose Navigate > Site Map > Pricing Administration.
  2. In the Price Lists list, create a new record.
  3. In the new record, complete the fields and save the record.

The following table describes some of the fields.

    Field
    Comments

    Currency

The currency of the price list. The field is automatically populated and defaults to the currency of the application when a new price list is created.

    Description

    Description of the price list.

    Effective From

The beginning date the price list is in effect. The current date and time is automatically populated by default when a new price list is created.

    Effective To

The last date the price list is in effect. After this time, orders, line items, and so on relying on this price list cannot access data in this price list.

    Last Updated

The date the record was last updated.

    Price List

The name of the price list.

    Organization

The organization associated with this price list.

    Pricing Model

The pricing model associated with the price list. Only one pricing model can be linked to this price list (at the header data level) at a time. The model's effective dates must fall within the effective dates of the price list for the model to be effective.

    Updated By

The login ID of the person who last updated the record.

  4. Select the new price list record and then click the Price List Line Items view tab.
  5. In the Price List Line Items list, click New, and add a product to the price list.

NOTE:  The following steps assume the products are already defined. If not, see Simple and Complex Products in Hospitality.

  6. Provide information in the remaining fields of the Price List Line Items list.

For descriptions of these fields, see Pricing Administration Guide.

Repeat Step 5 through Step 6 for each product you want to add.

For general information about price lists, see Pricing Administration Guide.

NOTE:  A sample pricing model has been included in the Siebel Hospitality sample database. You can build your own pricing model based on this sample, and then attach it to each price list you create. To use the sample pricing model, navigate to Pricing Administration > Pricing Model. You must reload the pricing model each time the server is restarted.
