Creating a Compensation Group and Adding Members

Siebel Incentive Compensation allows you to create a compensation group, add members to the group, and then associate the group with one or more rules. Some rules reward group compensation (the efforts of more than one person, for example, sales representatives in a region or territory). You can also add groups to hurdles, plan hurdles, and plan rules.

The calculation engine uses the effective dates for positions as well as options set in the Earned field on the rule to determine how to distribute payouts.

For example, assume you have two groups, as shown in Table 17. Smythe is a member of Group A at the beginning of the year. If Smythe closes a deal in March, 2001, Group A is paid. However, in the middle of the year, Smythe changes to Group B. When he closes a deal in August, Group B is paid.

Table 17.  Two Compensation Groups
Group A
Group B

Smythe 1/1/00 - 6/30/01

Smythe 7/1/01 - 12/31/01

Stern 1/1/01 -

Beale 1/1/01 -

  1. From the application-level menu, choose View > Site Map > Incentive Compensation Administration > Groups.
  2. In the Groups list, select a compensation group.
  3. In the Group Members list, click New.

The start date for each member in the Group Members list defaults to the date you add the position to the group, and the end date field is blank, which indicates infinity.

NOTE:  To find group members with a particular job title, position type, and so on, use Query or Find.

  5. In the Group Member record, enter the effective dates for the position in the Start and End fields.
