Training From the Partner's Perspective


Partner employees use the Siebel Partner Portal to:

  • Check the schedule of courses they are enrolled in. (The partner does this by displaying the Training screen and clicking the View Your Class Schedule, View Your Course Schedule, or View Your Curriculums hyperlink.) They can drill down on a class or course to view more detailed information about it, such as topics, objectives, tests, materials, associated courses. Managers at the partner company can view the course enrollments of their reports by using the Training screen, Managers view.
  • Search for new training by browsing or searching lists of classes or courses or by viewing training appropriate to their job role or training in a convenient location. (The partner does this by displaying the Training screen and clicking hyperlinks such as: Find Courses, Find Curriculums, Find Courses by Job Role, Find Curriculums by Job Role, and Find Courses by Location.)
  • Enroll in new courses or classes. (The partner does this by clicking the Enroll button at top of the Courses or Class Detail view. For example, the user might click the Find Courses by Job Role hyperlink and navigate to the Courses by Job Role view. Then, the partner employee can select a Web-based course and drill down on the course. Then, the partner employee can click Enroll.) Then the system takes the partner to the shopping cart where the partner can pay the fee for the course; if there is no fee, the partner the shopping cart displays a fee of $0. If there is availability in the course or class, the user is automatically enrolled; if no space is available in the training course or class, the partner employee is put on a waiting list.
  • After the partner has enrolled or wait-listed for a course or class, the partner can see the course record in the My Training view. The partner employee can download training materials to review before taking the course. (The partner does this using the Course Details view.)
  • After a partner employee is enrolled in a Web-based course, the partner employee can take the course by navigating to the My Training view, clicking the My Self-Paced Courses hyperlink, selecting and drilling down on the course, and launching the course by clicking on the Course Launch button or using the applet level menu.
  • After completing courses or classes, partner employees can take tests and receive their grades directly from the Siebel Partner Portal. (The partner does this by navigating to the My Training view, selecting and drilling down on the training record, navigating to the Tests applet, selecting the appropriate test, and clicking the icon to the right of the test record to launch the test.)

The Training screen provides one point of entry for end user activities related to training, including viewing training course schedules, searching for and enrolling in new courses, downloading course materials, and taking certification exams.
