Personalization Examples

The WebLogic Personalization Examples provide simple and practical use cases that demonstrate the considerable collection of personalization capabilities contained in this product. The examples are part of a working Web application that you will run in a browser. They are intended as source-level examples to help guide J2EE (and particularly, JSP) developers as they bring the full power of WebLogic Personalization to their production applications.

Within each example, a link to the related JSP source code is provided. You are encouraged to view this source, so that a complete understanding of how to exploit the power of Personalization might be attained. While not intended to act as an integrated Personalization application, the Examples do perpetuate a common theme from one to the next -- the Music Fan theme. This theme was chosen to demonstrate how an application might exploit Personalization within a focused domain -- tying together Content Management, Rules, User Management, and WebFlow for a particular purpose. It was chosen for fun, too.

You can explore five types of personalization examples:

  • The user login example

  • The content example

  • The internationalization example

  • The rules example

  • The Webflow and Pipeline example

To access the examples, the server must be running. If you used the startPortal.bat or startPortal.sh script to start the server, point your browser to:

http://<server-name>:<port>/p13n

If you used startP13N.bat or startP13N.sh script in PORTAL_HOME\config\p13nDomain to start the server, point your browser to:

http://<server-name>:<port>/index.jsp
