This procedure downloads the switch firmware and configures the firmware server.
Open a web browser on a Linux host that is part of the InfiniBand fabric and will become the firmware server.
Go to this URL:
Oracle’s Sun Downloads page is displayed.
Click the Downloads A-Z tab.
An alphabetical listing of downloads is displayed.
Under S, click on the Sun Datacenter InfiniBand Switch 648 FW 1.0.2 (or higher) link.
The Sun Datacenter InfiniBand Switch 648 FW 1.0.2 page is displayed.
Check the license agreement box and click Continue.
The page updates to list the available files.
Download the required and optional files to your download directory.
The firmware is in the SUN_DCS_648_FW_v1.0.2.tar.gz file.
In your download directory, unpack the .gz file:
$ gtar -zxvf SUN_DCS_648_FW_v1.0.2.tar.gz
The extracted files are displayed.
Unpack the SUN_DCS_648_ADDBLDRC2.tar.gz file:
$ gtar -zxvf SUN_DCS_648_ADDBLDRC2.tar.gz
The extracted files are displayed.
Move the SUN_DCS_648_BINARY_1.0.2.pkg file to the transfer directory.
Become superuser.
Ensure that the portmapper application is running:
# service portmap start
Start the firmware server daemon:
# ibfw_server
Configure which firmware is to be updated.
