Windows Server 2008 Detects Disk Ordering Differently
Issue:

If installing Windows Server 2008 OS, the OS detects the disk ordering differently than the BIOS when in AHCI mode.

Affected Software:
  • Windows Server 2008

Workaround:

Install the AHCI driver from the Tools and Drivers CD prior to partitioning the disk during the Windows OS installation. Once the updated AHCI driver is installed, the disk layout is detected correctly. Windows 2008 Cannot Support Partitions Greater Than 2 TB
Issue:

During RAID (0,5,10) setup, creating a partition greater that 2 TB causes the Windows 2008 installation to fail with the following message:

Windows is unable to find a system volume that meets its criteria for installation.

This limitation is for Windows file systems. Windows does not support file system partitions greater than 2 TB.

Affected Software and Hardware:
  • Windows 2008

  • 2 TB HD

Workaround:

Keep file system size less than 2 TB and make the data volume greater than 2 TB.
