The FileSystemMonitorService can be set to scan the file system on a periodic schedule. The schedule is set and controlled in a FileSystemMonitorScheduler component. Note that the FileSystemMonitorService can also be set to scan the file system programmatically, using its add, delete, and update methods, or through the Repository Loader administration application, which provides JSP pages and form handlers that invoke FileSystemMonitorService methods.
