Chapter 3

Comparing 32-bit Interfaces and 64-bit Interfaces

As discussed in Getting Past the 4 Gigabyte Barrier, to get the benefits of a 64-bit operating system you must convert the 32-bit applications to 64-bit applications. Some applications might only need to be recompiled as 64-bit applications; others must be converted.

Note -  Oracle Solaris 11 and its later versions is a 64-bit only operating system.
