When you use the Merchandising UI to create promotions, you specify the types of promotions that are available.
Promotions can be one of three types:
Item Discount – This is a promotion based on a specific item or items. You can identify the specific product or category that contains the item to discount.
Order Discount – This promotion applies to the order as a whole, and not an individual product. This promotion allows you to provide discount criteria for the entire order.
Shipping Discount – This promotion allows you to specify a discount to the shipping costs of the order.
