Some gears are configurable by Community Leaders from the Community Administration Pages. When you configure one of these gears, the changes take effect only in the current community. This is called a gear instance configuration; changes made here apply only to the current instance of the gear, and do not appear in any other community. For example, when you configure a Discussion Gear for the Tennis Community, those changes apply only to the Tennis Community. It is often helpful to give a gear instance a name that helps you distinguish it from the installation name of the gear, for example, Tennis Discussions for an instance of the Discussion Gear.
