Commerce allows registered customers to create gift lists and a wish list. If necessary, you can use Commerce Service Center to assist them in the creation and management of these lists:
Gift Lists – A list of items that a customer selects so that other customers may purchase the items. This list defines specific items, and optionally shipping information for the gift list creator. gift lists can be public or private. Public lists are included in all gift list searches, and items on the public list can be purchased by people in addition to the owner of the gift list. Private lists are available only to the owner of the list and are usually used when compiling a list before making the list public
Wish Lists – A list of items that the customer selects that can be purchased later. This list is not public, so other customers cannot purchase items from a wish list
When assisting customers with gift and wish lists, you can:
Search for another person’s gift list and add list items to the customer’s shopping cart
Create, edit, or delete the customer’s gift list
Edit or generate an order from the customer’s wish list
Note: If a customer returns an item that was purchased using a gift list, the gift list will not be updated with the return information.
You can search for existing gift lists by accessing the Commerce page and using the Product pull down menu to select Search for Gift Lists. If you know the name of the customer who created the gift list, you can use their customer profile to access the gift list.
Note: If you are working in a multiple site environment and site access control has been implemented, the ability to add, remove or return items in a gift or wish list from sites may be limited to those sites for which you have access.
