Remarks on the Program Function

With this program you can define alternative item numbers for a specific profit center, i.e., insert new records, change or delete the existing ones. You can also display the data on the screen for enquiry only.

By assigning alternative item numbers for specific items of a branch, it is possible to post the same item with another item number for a different cost center.

Normally, an item is retrieved by the number which is assigned to the company. This number is the default number used for the item in the entire system.

However, you can assign alternative numbers to the items:

• When an alternative number is assigned to a specific item with the Alternative Item Number per Branch maintenance program, this alternative number applies to all profit centers and terminal counters of the nominated branch.
• When an alternative number is assigned to a specific item using the Alternative Item Number per Profit Center maintenance program, this number applies then only to this profit center and its linked terminal counters.

Remarks on the Input Fields

This paragraph will provide a short overview over the options available for updating these Basic Data.

Just like in almost any other program:

• The Input Mask may be different in your MICROS Retail OSCAR POS program depending on the set-up of the application. In some cases some Data Fields may be missing.
• Some input fields may contain default values or defined selection options; these cannot be updated.
• The input mask contains some fields that require an entry and others in which entries are optional.
• If the data record is updated via multi-page input masks, go to the Dialog Window by clicking on the appropriate buttons with <Mouse key 1>.
• The same procedure applies to call up another update program from this program.
• In some cases you may find that so-called "Switches" which - depending on the default - can be activated or deactivated with <Mouse key 1>. Activated switches are identified by their dark color, deactivated switches are lighter-colored.

Company

Permitted  input range: numeric, 1 - 9999

Enter here the number of the company for which the alternative item number is to be processed. If you do not know the number, you can also select the data record via the Search Function.

Branch

Permitted  input range: numeric, 1 - 9999

Enter the number of the company for which the alternative item number is to be processed. If you do not know the number, you can also select the data record via the Search Function.

Profit center

Permitted input range: numeric, 1 - 9999

Enter the number of the profit center for which the alternative item number is to be processed. If you do not know the number, you can also select the data record via the Search Function.

Altern.Item

Permitted input range: decimal, max. 14 digits

Enter the alternative item number of the item. This number is used for posting when the item is sold in this profit center.

Item

Permitted  input range: decimal, max. 5 digits with 2 decimal places

Enter the original item number to which the laternative item no. is linked. If you do not know the number, you can also select the data record via the Search Function.
