Receipt Print Control at the Remote Printer (Example)
In
the following, you will be informed about how to configure a remote printer,
establish the connection between the terminal and the printer tables, and carry
out the receipt print control via the remote printer (kitchen printer).
The
following programs are of decisive importance for the receipt print control
(provided that installation, system unit, terminals, terminal types etc. have
been configured):
- Configure a Process Unit
of the type Device.
- Configure Devices (=
<Remote printers) and assign them to this process unit.
- Create at least one Printer
Table and assign it to the terminal that is to control the receipt
print.
- In the printer table, the Printer
Types are embedded; every printer type is based on a (unique) remote
printer. The printer type has then more or less the function of an index.
- Every printer type is physically described and
assigned to the Device
via the Printer Description.
- In the window Printer
Parameters, you define – depending on possible parameter settings in
the windows Item and Branch
– the "Receipt type ".
In
concrete terms, this takes place as follows (a detailed description can be
found in the corresponding program descriptions):
- Configuration of a Process unit of the type Device
- Go to System->Configuration -> Process Unit.
- First, select the installation with which you
are working.
- Enter a free Process
Unit Number (e.g. 4001).
- Enter a descriptor, e.g. Device or
Device Server.
- Select the Program
type Device.
- Assign the Device to a System Unit by entering the
appropriate number.
Attention:
You may install only one Program
type Device
per system unit!
- Save your entries.
- Configuration of the Remote Printer as a Device
- The remote printer is to be connected as a Device via the previously installed Device.
- Open the window Device.
- Select the device
type Kitchen
printer.
- Select the printer to be installed in the field Printer type.
- Every printer has to be installed with a unique
device number.
- The rest of the data (Cut off, Baud rate etc.)
will be displayed – if it is a predefined printer (e.g. ADS 400064, ADS
402064, ADS 403064). If not, you have to look up the necessary
information in the printer manual.
The entry in the field Device Interface
is important: Define the terminal card as the interface, e.g. COM A.
Attention!
Only LSV printers can be deployed as kitchen printers.
- Save your entries.
- Assignment of the printer table to a terminal
- Open the window Terminals
and select the terminal which is to control the receipt print.
- Then open the window Printer
Table.
- If this has not already been done, create a
printer table by entering a free table number and a table description. In
this table, the various printer types will be stored.
- Save your entries.
- Open
the window Printer
Description.
- Assign a printer type by entering the
corresponding number. If no Printer Type has
been installed yet, you have to open the window Printer
Type first and install the type by entering a printer type number and
a description. Every remote printer will be embedded in the table with a
unique printer type number. Save your entries.
- Enter the number of the installation to which
the printer is assigned.
- A remote printer must be assigned to a server
process. Link the Device
you assigned in Process Units (see above).
- Enter the device
number with which the printer has been installed in the window
Deveice.
- In the field Aux.
Server Proc, you can enter a substitute remote printer. On
this printer, the receipt will always be printed if the server process
breaks down. If there is no entry made here, the receipt will be printed
on the terminal printer when the server process breaks down. The receipt
will also be printed on the terminal printer if both the server process and the substitute remote printer
break down.
- Enter the device number of the substitute
printer in the field Server Device No..
This number is to be maintained via Device,
too.
- Deactivate the option Local
Printer.
- By activating the option Collect receipt, you can also print
collective receipts on the remote printer. If the collective receipts are
actually printed depends on the settings in the program Printer parameters.
- Close the window.
- Save the printer description in the window Printer Table. Close the window.
- Go to Terminals
-> Tables -> Printer para table.
- Definition of the receipt type in the window Item
- Open the window Item.
- Open the sub-window Devices.
- In the field Receipt
print type, decide if - and if yes – which single receipts are
to be printed:
- No entry
The receipt print control takes place via the entry in the window Department (Parameter: receipt print
type). If no entry is made there, too, a collect receipt will be printed
at best (see the description below of No
receipt).
- No receipt
No receipt will be printed. However, a collective receipt will be
printed if the option Collective receipt has been activated in the
window Printer description
(see above).
- Single/Double/Triple Receipt
For each item, 1/ 2/ 3 receipts will be printed.
- Definition of the receipt type in the window
Department
- Open the window Department.
- Define the printer via the field Printer Type. The printer is to be
maintained via the program Printer Type. By
assigning a printer type to the Department, you define the remote printer
on which the receipts are to be printed.
- Define via Receipt
Print Type if – and if yes – which single receipts are to be
printed:
- No entry
If an entry has been made in the window Item, it applies. If no entry has been made, a
collective receipt will be printed. This requires, though, that the
option Collect receipt has
been activated in the window Printer
Description (see
sbove).
- No receipt
No (single) receipt will be printed. If the option Collect receipt has been activated
in the window Printer Description,
a collective receipt will be printed.
- Single/ double / triple receipt
For every department booking transaction, 1/ 2/ 3 receipts will be
printed.
- Note:
Entries in the window Item have a higher priority than any
entries in this window.
